It’s no secret that Uber is to blame; a service which markets and operates the mobile transport application. Uber allows anyone to drive for their company using their own car, subject to a background check and car requirements.
However, it’s been devastating to hear that Brisbane Police have recently appealed for women who may have been sexually assaulted while using Uber to come forward as they investigate a driver accused of raping a young passenger three times.
Being a young woman myself, this petrifies me. I wish background checks were more thorough and grander measures were taken to ensure her safety. I wish she lived in a world where her safety was for certain.
