Family Lawyers - How We Can Help You
We advise and represent people in all types of Family Law circumstances: separation and divorce, financial settlements, parenting and children arrangements, defacto and same sex relationships, domestic violence situations and other family law matters.
As family lawyers in Townsville since 1983, we have helped many people sort through the legalities of separation and divorce. Family law can be very complex, so it is important for you to have an experienced Family Lawyer who understands the difficulties of separation - and gives you sensible, practical legal advice. This helps you move forward with the least amount of stress and expense.
It is extremely important it is to make sure that despite separation or divorce, your children have a way to maintain and hopefully flourish in their relationship with both mum and dad. Your lawyer will know this and ensure that all decisions are carefully balanced to give you the best outcomes.
Navigating through the complexities of your property (and superannuation) division can be challenging for almost everyone. We help by simplifying, guiding and protecting you in this process to ensure that settlements are fair and your rights are protected.
The majority of our new clients are recommended to us by past clients who were happy with our service and the outcomes we obtained for them. Our team of family lawyers and paralegals work together to help obtain the best outcomes for you. We are confidential and sensitive to the personal nature of Family Law, and we are here to protect you.
Below you will find information to help you move through this time. This includes making your first appointment, learning a little more about us as your potential lawyer, hear from just a few of our clients who have been through this with us, and then some great resources that you can use to take some useful small steps even before you meet with us.
Your First Appointment
Your next step is to contact us and make a time for your first appointment. The purpose of this appointment is to help you gain a thorough understanding of the process, our advice as to what your next steps will be, what we will do for you as your lawyers, what the process will cost, and perhaps might be expected as an outcome.
This meeting is a full one-hour session plus it includes a 15 minute phone call which is scheduled a few days later to allow you time to consider the options suggested.
Your first meeting fee is $220 including gst payable at the conclusion of your appointment. Reception has credit card and eftpos facilities. At all times we will be very clear about fees and billing so you can know exactly what is going on.
Our Clients Say...
O'SheaDyer Solicitors were recommended to me by a friend. She told me that Ivan and his team were 'the best in the business' and I am very glad I chose them to assist me through a difficult family law issue. Everyone was patient, genuine and compassionate and very easy to relate to and trust. Going through divorce is extremely stressful and Ivan's dedication, knowledge and empathy helped immensely. O'SheaDyer was not only committed to obtaining the best legal outcome for me but they were also invested in me well-being. I am grateful to the team at O'SheaDyer.
I have never had any dealings with the Law and am at the start of what feels like a daunting journey. I am so appreciative for O'SheaDyer solicitors. The process of obtaining a Protection Order was emotionally, ethically and mentally taxing. I don’t think Ivan Baxter has a PhD in Psychology but he has understood my situation amazingly well. He answered all my questions with knowledge and supporting advice, making my journey so far, bearable. The outcome of the Protection Order and the manner in which it was handled, was excellent. His work and support along the way was truly appreciated. Not one word I said was misinterpreted or brushed off. So thank you. - Rashelle
